Introducing Pick Up & Play
A new ReadySet gameplay mode designed for longer, more flexible multiplayer experiences.

The shift
Not every multiplayer experience starts at the same moment.
Some events are designed to unfold gradually — across a conference day, throughout a festival weekend, or over longer social experiences where participants arrive at different times.
That's why we built Pick Up & Play — a new gameplay mode that gives organizers more flexibility when designing longer-form ReadySet experiences.
The mode
What is Pick Up & Play?
Unlike traditional synchronized gameplay, Pick Up & Play allows participants to start whenever they join the experience. Gameplay stays active across longer time windows instead of a single shared block.
Players enter the experience, begin exploring, and progress individually or in teams at their own pace — no need for everyone to start simultaneously.
- Participants can join at different times
- Gameplay is not synchronized
- Experiences stay active over longer periods
- Players progress at their own pace, solo or in teams
How it differs

The motivation
Why we built it
Many organizers loved ReadySet's multiplayer systems but needed formats that worked across longer time windows and more flexible participation schedules.
Customers told us the same thing in different ways: not every event fits a single synchronized start. Some experiences naturally happen over time.
Pick Up & Play was designed to support those experiences without losing what makes ReadySet feel alive — progression, exploration, interaction, and gameplay structure.
Where it shines
Ideal use cases
Pick Up & Play unlocks formats that didn't quite fit a synchronized start — and reshapes the ones that did.
Conferences
Attendees drift in and out across sessions, breaks, and evenings — gameplay stays live the whole way through.
Festivals
Weekend-long programming where every visitor arrives on their own schedule and still gets a complete experience.
Open campus experiences
Onboarding weeks and open days that need to feel structured without locking students into a fixed start time.
City exploration
Multi-neighborhood gameplay paced by walking, transit, and discovery rather than a stopwatch.
Tourism experiences
Visitors arrive throughout the day and progress through landmarks, missions, and stories at their own pace.
Public activations
Brand experiences in plazas, retail floors, and pop-ups where participation is opt-in and continuous.
Museum trails
Self-guided gameplay layered across galleries — flexible enough for school groups, families, and solo visitors.
Holiday experiences
Seasonal trails and city light experiences designed to stay active for weeks, not hours.
What comes next
The future of flexible gameplay
ReadySet is evolving beyond short-form interactive challenges into a platform for flexible real-world multiplayer experiences.
Pick Up & Play expands what organizers can build — letting gameplay adapt to different event formats, participation styles, and pacing requirements without compromising on the multiplayer feeling that defines ReadySet.
