Single Player vs Multiplayer Experiences

ReadySet supports both single-player and multiplayer gameplay modes. The mode you choose changes how participants experience the event, interact with each other, and progress through gameplay. Different formats work better for different types of experiences.

Gameplay SetupUpdated

Single Player Mode

In single-player mode, each device runs its own independent gameplay experience. Players complete checkpoints and activities on their own while competing individually on the leaderboard.

This format works well for:

  • Self-guided experiences
  • Campus activities
  • Tourism experiences
  • Flexible participation events
  • Public activations
  • Individual competitions

Single-player gameplay is often:

  • More flexible
  • Easier to join casually
  • Simpler to organize

While designed for individual participation, single-player mode can also be used by small groups or teams sharing a single device together. This is especially useful for:

  • Casual group play
  • Classrooms
  • Family experiences
  • Situations where fewer devices are preferred

Because gameplay happens on a single shared device, the experience often becomes more collaborative in-person, with players solving challenges together around the same screen.

Multiplayer Mode

In multiplayer mode, participants play together in teams while each player uses their own device.

Players collaborate throughout the experience by:

  • Completing activities
  • Solving challenges
  • Communicating in real time
  • Contributing individually to the shared team score

Gameplay updates live across the team experience, creating a more connected and social format.

This mode works especially well for:

  • Team building
  • Corporate events
  • Conferences
  • Group competitions
  • Social gameplay
  • Collaborative experiences

Multiplayer gameplay often creates:

  • Stronger interaction
  • More communication
  • Higher energy
  • Shared problem solving
  • Live team coordination

Because every participant has their own device, teams can split up, complete activities simultaneously, and contribute to the leaderboard together in real time.

Team Configuration

When using multiplayer mode, organizers can configure:

  • Team sizes
  • Number of teams
  • Player limits
  • Team names
  • Leaderboard visibility

This helps shape how competitive or collaborative the experience feels.

Which mode should I choose?

Choose single-player mode if:

  • Participants may join at different times
  • The experience is self-guided
  • Flexibility is important
  • Players may share devices

Choose multiplayer mode if:

  • Teamwork is part of the goal
  • Collaboration matters
  • Competition between groups is desired
  • Participants should have individual devices and live interaction
