What Are Checkpoints?

Checkpoints are the locations players visit during a ReadySet experience. Each checkpoint contains one or more activities, challenges, or tasks that players complete to progress through the game. Together, checkpoints shape the flow, pacing, and exploration of the experience.

How checkpoints work

When creating an experience in ReadySet Studio, organizers define an event area on the map. ReadySet then generates playable checkpoint locations within that area.

Players move between checkpoints during gameplay, completing activities and earning points along the way.

What can a checkpoint contain?

A checkpoint can include:

  • Trivia questions
  • Photo challenges
  • Video tasks
  • Creative missions
  • Team activities
  • Puzzle challenges
  • Optional AR-enhanced interactions

Some checkpoints may contain multiple activities.

Examples of checkpoints

Checkpoints can be placed near:

  • Landmarks
  • Parks
  • Event venues
  • Public gathering spaces
  • Campus areas
  • City streets or neighborhoods

Why checkpoints matter

Checkpoints help:

  • Guide player movement
  • Encourage exploration
  • Structure gameplay progression
  • Create pacing and variety
  • Connect activities to real-world locations

They are one of the core building blocks of every ReadySet experience.
